Saudi Arabia’s Alshubah Photovoltaic Power Plant Project Officially Enters Commissioning Stage
On 15 and 16 October local time, 2GW of ASB2 area of Alshubah 2.6GW photovoltaic power station project in Saudi Arabia, which is jointly constructed by China Energy Construction International Group, Guangdong Thermal Power and Northwest Institute, completed the reverse power transmission and first grid connection successively, marking that the project has officially entered into the commissioning stage, and laying a solid foundation for the next step of full-capacity grid connection and power generation.
In the face of the urgent and complicated situation of this large-capacity power station’s reverse power transmission and grid connection, the project department responded quickly and organised several mobilisation conferences and deployment meetings. Through pre-planning and simulation, the project department effectively integrated the resources of all parties and achieved efficient coordination. The participating units strictly controlled the safety and quality, adhered to the principle of ‘safety first’, successfully completed the acceptance and commissioning of the main equipment and ancillary systems through a series of initiatives, and successfully obtained the permission for power transmission to ensure that the grid connection was a success.
Next, the project department will maintain high morale and rigorous working attitude, make every effort to promote the full capacity of the power station to be connected to the grid, and steadily promote the smooth handover of the project.
The 2.6GW PV project in Alshubah, Saudi Arabia, comprises two sub-projects, ASB1 and ASB2, and is the largest single PV power plant under construction overseas. After the project is fully completed, it will become an important milestone for Chinese and Saudi enterprises to promote Saudi Arabia’s ‘Vision 2030’, and another important achievement of the in-depth docking between the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative and Saudi Arabia’s national development strategy, which will contribute to the prosperous development of the global new energy industry. It will contribute to the vigorous development of the global new energy industry.
